Energy Trust of Oregon Approves Scanifly for Program Participation
The Trust joins several solar industry regulators and financial lenders that have validated Scanifly’s software shading and resource assessment tools over the past month.
PORTLAND, OREGON -- Scanifly, the leader in solar design software using drones and 3D modeling, today announced that The Energy Trust of Oregon has approved the company to meet its incentive program requirements.
“Because of the unique capabilities of the platform, Scanifly reports can be used to show that a project meets either the on-site shade analysis requirement to take shade measurements at specific locations or the remote shade analysis requirements using an average value across the solar array”, the ETO wrote. Scanifly is the first shading tool approved by ETO since they validated three others in 2016.
The ETO joins NYSERDA, MassCEC, and the California Energy Commission (CEC), Austin Energy and a few other state bodies to have confirmed Scanifly’s tools. Its shading analysis is proven to be on par with onsite shading tools, like the Solmetric SunEye, as seen in this case study.
Several lenders also announced Scanifly as an accepted tool. Lender IGS Solar confirmed the use of Scanifly shade reports for projects submitted to its next fund. IGS clients like leading national contractor Vision Solar are pleased that a more accurate and expedient shading solution is accepted. IGS leveraged analysis done by independent engineering firm Black & Veatch, who summarized their positive findings on Scanifly, which ultimately greenlighted IGS’s decision.
Finally, publicly-traded financial and service provider Sunnova confirmed Scanifly’s shade tools.
“We developed and patented Scanifly’s proprietary viewshed technology to simulate real-world conditions through a stereographic image. The viewshed simulates as if you were standing on the roof, but in a virtual, three-dimensional space,” shares Scanifly Founder and Chief Product Officer John Novak. As the inventor of the Scanifly patent, Novak continued, “I remember the days of the solar pathfinder and Solmetric SunEye, then trying to pair the onsite shade data with remote tools. Scanifly’s shading solution provides the best of both: precision and up-to-date data of an onsite solution, with the speed and safety of a remote one.”
