Welcome Message

Dear Scaniflyer,

The global solar industry has grown significantly over the last few years; however, we’ve seen firsthand that solar developers still employ a very manual survey and design process. Surveyors climb on steep roofs with ladders, collect dimensions with measuring tapes, and draft layouts by hand. Onsite shading analysis is done with archaic tools. This process takes hours, sometimes days.

Designers finalize models by hand, and estimate the impact of onsite obstructions, like trees, vent pipes and HVAC units. As a result, projects suffer from equipment change orders, ultimately resulting in lost sales and unhappy consumers. Furthermore, bottlenecks hinder growth as surveys can’t keep up with sales. With solar companies visiting job sites before construction, these problems persist industrywide.

As former PV system designers, installers and sales consultants, Scanifly’s team knew there was a better way to survey and design solar. Using our program, surveyors fly a drone capturing pictures of the site’s features in just 10-20 minutes. Surveyors then upload the drone imagery directly to Scanifly’s software, which automatically creates a to-scale, virtual replica 3D model of the site. Finally, PV system designers create arrays, simulate production, and can click anywhere in the 3D model to conduct a shading analysis.

Scanifly’s process is much simpler than the current manual workflow. It entails just a few circular shaped drone flights and the occasional grid-pattern flight. For those starting from scratch, it is like driving a car; it can be challenging at first, but soon enough it becomes second nature.

Flying drones for solar surveying and design will save you time, increase accuracy and be far safer than the old manual tasks. It will reduce your costs. Be prepared to impress your customers and differentiate yourself from the competition. Most of all, it will help accelerate solar energy globally.

We believe in a world powered by renewable energy and preserved by sustainable design. We’re excited for you to join us in this effort! Welcome to the Scanifly family!

Sincerely,

The Scanifly Team
